Teachers and pupils in Mińsk Mazowiecki awarded the title “School of Dialogue”"School of Dialogue” is an educational project, that’s aim is to raise the awareness of young people, about the history of their small homelands, multicultural community, racial and ethnical prejudice and antisemitism. "This is very important, that young people get to learn about the thousand year long joint history of Poles and Jews” – said to PAP Agnieszka Chrabołowska from the Forum for Dialogue Among Nations. She marked out, that Jewish culture is part of Polish culture, that we, Poles cannot forget. “This project allows us to build in the pupils a feeling of responsibility to keep the memories of Polish Jews alive” – said Chrabołowska. In a part of the awarded project, the pupils organized classes about Jewish culture, and the history of Mińsk Mazowiecki and its citizens before World War II. The pupils also prepared a trip around the Jewish communities spots in Mińsk Mazowiecki. The program contained a visit to the Jewish cemetery, where the pupils left commemorative stones with dedications in both Polish and Hebrew. "The trip ended at the site of an old Jewish restaurant, where the pupils tried cakes that they earlier baked using Jewish recipes” – said the school’s English teacher Katarzyna Łaziuk, who looked after the pupils. The foundation Forum for Dialogue Among Nations is a NGO, that has for the past ten years worked on a Polish-Jewish dialogue, changing mutual stereotypes and bringing Poles and Jews closer to each other.
