WUM and WIM have signed a cooperation agreement

The Medical University of Warsaw (WUM) and the Military Medical Institute have signed a cooperation agreement. The agreement says, that the institutes as part of the agreement will: realize joint science research projects and cooperate in educating students. On January 21, in the University’s headquarters the rector of WUM Prof. Marek Krawczyk, and WIM’s director General Grzegrorz Gielerak signed the agreement.

"Our didactical and clinic potential is very big. We are ready to run our partnership in such a way, that not only both institutes, but also the communities of Warsaw and the Mazowsze region benefit from it.” – said Prof. Marek Krawczyk. Director Gielerak explained that his institute (known as the hospital on Szaserów street) sees in this agreement the attribute of almost every medical specialities focused in one place.

According to the agreement both institutes will together work on scientific research – that is co-run any projects that are funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and similar institutes. They also agreed to work together in research networks and science consortiums.

"In a clinical sense, this will be the largest consortium in Warsaw. Joining the potential of both institutes and being able to use such a modern base as CePT (the Center for Pre-Clinical Research and Technology) will give us the chance to come up with many interesting projects in the future” – said to PAP Prof. Sławomir Majewski, WUM’s prorector for international education and cooperation.

He later explained, that currently there are activities to organize bilateral discussions between certain groups of scientists who are experts on hypertension or allergic diseases. They also want to start a science network, in which a leading unit from one institute will bond with a similar unit from the other, even if it represents a much lower level of knowledge. Thanks to this both WUM and WIM will help each other develope.
