Poland signs environmental agreements with Lithuania, Belarus

Polish, Lithuanian and Belarussian environment ministers signed cooperation agreements on nature conservation in the town of Bialowieza, north-eastern Poland, on Saturday.

Poland is only beginning its nature conservation cooperation with Belarus, Poland's Environment Minister Maciej Nowicki said. Under the agreement a special Polish-Belarussian commission will be set up to define the directions of future cooperation.

The cooperation agreement signed with Lithuania relates to the timetable of meetings of Polish-Lithuanian commissions which already exist and work. The cooperation covers climate changes, sustainable development, geotourism, geological heritage protection, transborder forestry and investments harmful for environment, among others. ID
