The Young Archaeologists Club operates on the internet

Do you want to challenge the bloodthirsty Egyptian god Anubis, check out your knowledge on lost civilizations, or maybe find out if there are any interesting museums near to where you live? If so, then check out the website – “Young Archaeologists Club” (www.archeodzieciaki.pl), that has been created for children by the Friends of Warsaw University’s Archaeology Institute’s Foundation.




There is, specially for the youngest children, an online coloring book, that shows representatives of different civilizations from the past; puzzles that present old buildings and a quiz to test your knowledge.

For the older children there are many more interesting things in the “Young archaeologist” tab. Amongst them you can find puzzles, crosswords, memory games and an arcade game – “The curse of Anubis”.

The is an interesting place on the website for teachers and parents. On it you can find a list of all the museums in the region, with a brief description about them. You can also look at, and download PDF files containing educational packages, that will be useful in lessons about Romans and barbarians, Celts, Egyptians or ancient inventions. You can also find here a basic instruction about the laws on discovering an artifact, and the procedures the discoverer must go through. The web users can also download wallpapers with archaeological themes on them.

The editors of the page encourage the visitors to take part in a competition with attractive prizes. You have to present an interesting memory about a trip to Biskupin. Different techniques are allowed – you can write, draw or even present a photograph. You have time till the end of December to submit your work. Details can be found on the website.
